With our entry level model from our workshop, you can have a customised guitar for under £1000*.
This guitar offers the warmth of a Les Paul style instrument but with a more modern and vibrant shape and feel, whilst maintaining a traditional and natural elegance. The classical double cut shape with sculpted carves for access is balanced with a carve in the lower body. The wrap around bridge, set maple neck and solid ash body combine to provide sustain for days and a smooth action for the speed merchants.
A wide range of different pickup options and wiring configurations allow you to extract a huge range of tones from just one guitar. Our standard configuration uses a p90 disguised as a humbucker in the neck for bright but warm tones and a double coil PAF style humbucker in the bridge that can give a thunderous and filthy roar when provoked.
The base cost of this model is £900. This very reasonably priced guitar represents extraordinary value for money and even with customised options costs less than £1000 (including tax in the UK). Build time is currently between 8 and 12 weeks but please enquire because we often have standard models in stock for immediate shipping.
The Curve Carve is made from a 3-piece ash body blank and maple neck with 6 aside locking tuners. The body has double, sculpted cutaways and is stained with a vibrant amber dye as standard. The three dimensional carve of the body produces unique grain patterns that are emphasised with a dark stain.
The maple set neck has a dual action truss rod with aged copper leaf around the access hole. Hipshot locking tuners and a hand carved bone nut provide excellent tuning stability. The fretboard is made from Pau Ferro with Mother of Pearl or optional metallic fret markers. Jumbo Nickel-Silver fret wire is used and the fret board comes with or without a gecko motif or big cat 'comin atcha'.
The scale length is 25 inches or 635 mm. This falls between the standard Gibson and Fender Scale lengths and sets a string tension at concert pitch that helps the guitar find a tone that is neither muddy nor too bright.
The pickup and control cavities are fully shielded for low noise output. The standard model uses a clean sounding P90 single coil pickup in the neck position (disguised as a humbucker) and a Rolling Mill PAF style humbucking pickup for classic rock tones at the bridge. A push/pull switch on the volume potentiometer is used to split the bridge humbucker. Pickups are wired with a single volume and single tone control potentiometers supplied by Bourns and a three-way wafer style switch for pickup selection. Humbuckers are separately coil tapped with a push-pull potentiometer.
Dual humbucker models can be wired with a 5-way switch. Configuration A allows each pickup to be selected separately or together, or with the inner and outer coils of each pickup out of phase. This gives sounds that are similar to those found on a Stratocaster guitar. Configuration B gives the standard pickup combinations in positions 1-3, but position 4 selects the two pickups 90 degrees out of phase for a strat-like sound and position 5 selects the neck pickup but with a capacitor switched in to produce 10% less base.
Chrome pickup surrounds and a chrome Gotoh wrap around bridge as standard brings perfect intonation with a dash of understated elegance and style.
